Honeysuckle Rose
« on: September 26, 2015, 03:56:55 PM »
This is Honeysuckle Rose, an M4 Sherman part of A Company, 710th tank battalion. Honeysuckle rose and the 710th fought on Peleliu during WWII. On October 18th 1944 Honeysuckle Rose was sent out to rescue US Marines pinned down by sniper fire. While in route the tank hit an unexploded aircraft bomb killing five of the six men onboard. Afterwards the tank burned for several hours. Honeysuckle Rose is still there, just below Hill 210.

Sorry for the delay. but I was watching a documentary of the Battle of Peleliu and at one point of the documentary appears the Honeysuckle Rose. I started looking for what happened with the tank and its crew and I arrived here. It is very sad to see the end of the tank and only with one survivor. unlucky to cross his path with an unexploded bomb.

photo on the beach before the misfortune.  :(
